Introduction to Letterpress 24th & 25th November 2018

£140.00 / Sold Out

The Introduction to Letterpress Printing weekend course will provide you with a general overview of the letterpress printing process. Attending the course will enable you to create several prints, postcards or posters - or all three if time allows using a variety of presses and type.

You will learn how to:

• Compose and set wood & metal type
• Lock your type up in a chase with furniture & quoins
• How to ink up your type using different techniques
• Operate a proofing press (Farley, Vandercook, Korrex) & small desktop platen press (Adana)
• Become familiar with printing terminology & best practice

The course is ideal for anyone who is curious about letterpress or who wants to try their hand at something different. You may want to make a present for someone or you may be interested in buying a press and starting up yourself (but want to know more before you dive in), if so then this course is for you.

The course takes place at our well stocked workshop in Shipley, West Yorkshire, where you will have access to 1000’s of pieces of wood & metal type to create your very own unique piece of work using a time honoured process.

The Print Project has been delivering workshops for over 6 years at events, festivals and educational establishments. Our workshops are informative, creative and fun experiences for the curious or mad keen printaholic that you may be / may know.
